Nowadays, some ovens come with the feature of self-cleaning. We have to be clean that ash with a brush later. However, it is always a risk of the oven being overheated. Therefore, let’s have a look at other best ways.

Best Ways to Clean Oven

You can clean the oven simply with three methods. Cleaning with baking soda and vinegar, with lime and with store-bought cleaners are the best ways to keep your oven clean.

Clean with Baking Soda and Vinegar

Remove everything from the oven

The first thing you need to be done is removing everything such as oven racks, foil, and pizza stones from your oven. Make sure to check that there is no item in the unit before you start the cleaning process. Set them aside so you can clean those items later.

Prepare a paste of baking soda and water

You need to take 1/2 cup of baking soda and 3 tablespoons of water. Mix the water and baking soda in a small bowl until they combined well. The paste you have to be prepared as spreadable. You can add more water or baking soda until getting a perfect consistency. This baking soda paste should not be clumpy or runny.

Spread the prepared baking soda paste on the entire interior of the oven

You can spread this paste all over the part of your oven. But, it should not be touched by heating elements. So, you need to take care of avoiding heating elements. You can use a paintbrush for coating the oven. Moreover, you should have attention while spreading it on caked or grimy places. Remove the oven interior glass, clean it separately.

Leave the paste for at least 12 hours

You have to leave the baking soda paste for 12 hours (overnight) because in this time it will saturate the dirt and grime. Just simply close the oven door and go ahead. At this time, the baking soda will be turned to brown color. Generally, it absorbs and breaks down all the existed grime in your oven.

Wipe down the dried baking soda paste

After 12 hours, it will be dried. By using a damp dishcloth and spatula, you have to remove the paste from the oven. Wet the dishcloth and wring it so that it can't be dropped from hand. Wipe away as much as you can. Also, use one silicone or plastic spatula for using at harder bits where the paste is still stuck. One more thing, you should not use a metal spatula because there may be a chance of scratches on the oven.

Spray white vinegar and water on the interior of the oven

Take 120 mL of vinegar and 470mL of water to spray. Better to use a clean spray bottle for spraying these liquids and do it on the entire oven. If there is any baking soda paste remaining, then it will react with this vinegar and form foam. So, with this spray, you can ensure that the baking soda will be removed totally.

Clean remaining vinegar and any residue

Take a new wet cloth and wringing again and wipe away the sprayed white vinegar. If you want to clean the broiler drawer, just spray the vinegar and wipe it. Now enjoy a clean oven.

Clean Oven with Lemons

First, take two lemons and squeeze their lemon juice into the bowl. Once you have squeezed completely, place the remaining lemon skins in the baking dish. After that, fill the baking dish with 1/3rd full of water and place it on one of the oven racks. Preheat your oven and then bake the lemon juice dish at 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes. In the baking time, as water and lemon juice heats up, the vapor will begin to make the grime lose enough to wipe away. This is a normal action, you can just turn on the oven fan and open a window.

Once 30 minutes are passed, turn off the oven and let the interior cool down. For a complete cooldown, it will take around one hour. Once it has cooled off, by using a scouring pad you have to scrub away the grime whatever is left. You can use a spatula for using at harder sections.

You can use the remaining lemon water while cleaning to saturate dirty areas. Just dip the pad into that water and continue scrubbing. Once you cleaned away all the grime, dry the oven with a towel.

How to Clean Oven with Store-Bought Cleaners?

  1. Remove racks, pizza stone, thermometer, and everything from the oven before you start the cleaning process.
  2. Place the newspapers or old towels around the oven on the floor to catch any drops of grime or cleaner.

You should cover all the places except heating elements if you are using an electric oven. Simply lift the heating elements and spritz underneath. If you are using a gas oven, don't spray the cleaner where the gas is supplied.
  4. Leave the sprayed cleaner for the time as mentioned in the label. The most store-bought cleaner needs about 20 to 30 minutes. In this time, you can spray for cleaning oven racks. After spraying on racks, keep them in a garbage bag and leave for soak for the mentioned time in the instructions.
  5. Once the time is reached, open the oven door and wipe down all surfaces with a damp cloth. Still, there are any sticky spots, remove all grime with a sponge or other abrasive tool.
