Wall Shield Application

As a wall shield, the Imperial stove board is designed for reducing the specified clearance between your appliance and combustible materials.

To determine the minimum acceptable clearance between the appliance and wall when using a wall shield, you can use the below formula:

Reduced clearance = Specified clearance/ 3 (to a minimum of 12").

Cmc = Csc *  (1-Crp/100) Where

• Cmc is the minimum clearance after reduction.
• Csc is the specified clearance on your heating appliance.
• Crp is the clearance reduction percentage specified on the wall protector product.

You should maintain the needed clearance between the chimney and (fuel-gas) conduit.

As an adequate provision of free air movement is needed behind the wall shield, you need to maintain the following clearances.

• One inch between the shield and wall.
• One inch between the floor and shield.
• 18" min. over the extremities of the appliance.
• Three inches minimum between the shield and the ceiling.
• Wall protector can't be used to reduce clearances in front of any loading or ash removal doors on the appliance.

Wall Shield Application Instructions

1. Support your wall shield 1 inch above the floor.

2. Lightly mark anchor holes 16 inches apart around the perimeter of the wall shield. Locate one anchor in each corner. You should not place any anchors directly behind the heating unit.

3. You need to place the shield in position and drill ¼” holes at marked locations around the perimeter of the shield, drilling at least one inch into the wall at the same time.

4. Once all holes are drilled, remove the shield.

5. Insert one wall anchor into each hole in the wall.

6. The shield needs to be repositioned and aligned with holes.

7. Insert #10 x 2-1/2” wood screws through the shield and one-inch spacers into wall anchors. Do all four corners first. Moreover, you do not tighten screws securely until all screws are in place.

8. When all screws are in place, tighten all four corners and then the remaining.

9. Now, you can remove the support which you have kept at the starting.

Floor Protector Instructions

The amount of protection needed under a stove depends on it's design. The min. protection needed for any stove is a floor protector. Normally, the certified stoves have floor protection requirements that will be listed on the label.

• For example, if the R-value is 0, then this value must be equal to or greater than that specified in the heat-producing appliance's labeling or installation instructions.
• The floor protector must be installed on a continuous and flat surface. And, it should not be installed on a carpeted surface.
• And, this needs to be installed in accordance with local building codes.
